Wee the Band plays a Festival!

Nevermind that it was fer a snobby neighborhood and we were billed as an "all-ages rock band", meaning all our songs about sex, drugs, and ritualistic murder had to be stripped. It was still a festival, n we gawt paid motherfuckers. So deal.

Anyway, our kickass sound guy Tim snapped some snazzy lookin photos of us, so ahma share. Again, nevermind that this gig was like 4 weeks ago. You still git pics. Of me in wearin a felt tie. Aren't you lucky motherfuckers?

Tha band!

Tha band n some kids who danced!

Ah sing!

Tha (leavin) Crowd!

In sad news, one of our singers Ashante is no longer singing with us. We are gaein ta be playin w.o her in a few weeks, n then tryin ta replace her as soon as we ken - but they hafta be good.

Ahm kiddin, that news isn't sad at all, she drove me absolutely crazy n ahm actually really really glad she's nawt with tha band anymore (Altho ah will say that a)she could sing like a muthafawka n b)girl had some good bizness sense that we certainly profited from).

I love you weekend....

This wasn't supposed to be that busy of a weekend, but a lot happened...

The pop/rock band I've been playing with had a gig in Fairfax, California. I got really excited when I saw a big theatre marquee w. "FAIRFAX" in large red letters (I'm from Fairfax, Virginia). The bar, Peri's, was actually a pretty nice scene - it got a lot of foot traffic, drinks were on the house, and everyone was super friendly. Funny enough, we had been concerned about nawt havin enuff songs, so our singer did two on his own. Because of this, we had to skip one of them, hah!

Then Saturday my house tackled more of our backyard - and we even had one willing pair of hands stop by and dig some shit up, awesome! Here we are before:

And this is after:

If this doesn't look like much, it's because you can't see the stretch behind the shed, which was completely overgrown with all sorts of stuff, adn has been laid mostly to waste by now. I was hoping that was pure dirt, but it's concrete as well so the plans to put in a veggie garden there have to be modified. Likely I'll still put some veggies and herbs there, but will have to put them in containers.

Finally, Willie T, singer of The Mysterious Odors was in town w. his friend's Beatnik Jr (who actually feature Odors drummer Andrews) promoting their show next week. Willie and I had a lot of catching up to do - since the Odors broke up he has traveled the world as tech guy with bands like NIN, Alanis Morisette, Incubus, and more. Fuck that guy. Here we are in the SOMA:

The next item on my agenda for the day is one I'm not especially looking forward to, but it's best to just get it ovah w. Catch ya latah interwebs!

Craptastic!

Energy bill is ovah $400! Ahm supposed ta be livin w. all utilities included, but this is apparently breakin all tha banks. So an arrangement will hafta be decided....my suggestion is that whatevah ovah a certain amount is split by myself n tha otha housemate.

Also, ah need ta buy a space heater now...funny, ahd actually avoided daein just that b/c ah didn't want to use more electricity! Anyone gawta personal recommendation (My room is 11 x 16, so it neeeds ta have a lil kick to it....unlike tha POS ah used in Bawstan, which was provided b.c of some crazy bullshit er sumthang).

Rough watahs ahead? Possibly. On tha otha side, its almost 5 pm n ah havent been fired. Also, think13 has a gig on Friday w. a friends band. Tha downside? Thars nae covah, so ahm doubtin any money will be seen by yers truly.
